In response to the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and countless other black men, women, and trans people killed by police, victimized by the justice system, and disenfranchised by systematic racism, the Create Columbus will support of initiatives designed to:

  • Dispel systemic racism: In local communities, governments, and institutions – citizens must create sustainable policies and actions to drive change against systematic inequality.
  • Improve public health and safety: By improving access to affordable housing, healthcare, and other essential services, the Commission believes safer communities can be built while divesting from police support.
  • Enhance community education and advocacy: Through educating the community on how to effectively organize and lobby for systematic change the Commission believes the next generation of informed advocates can be catalyzed.

As an organization, the Create Columbus was formed to advocate for the success of all young people. As a population young people are experiencing the collective awakening of a country and witnessing the impact of prolonged trauma on the black people in the community; something that has been weighing down a people for centuries.
