Awards of $1,000 to Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia K-8 teachers to recognize outstanding contributions to the teaching of science. Nominations will be accepted on behalf of teachers within Allegheny and surrounding counties in the funding source’s membership area.

Eligible Counties are as follows:

- Pennsylvania: Adams, Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Butler, Cambria, Cameron, Centre, Clarion, Clearfield, Clinton, Crawford, Cumberland, Elk, Erie, Fayette, Forest, Franklin, Fulton, Green, Huntingdon, Indiana, Jefferson, Juanita, Lawrence, McKean, Mercer, Mifflin, Perry, Snyder, Somerset, Union, Venango, Warren, Washington, Westmoreland, and York Counties.

- Ohio: Belmont, Columbiana, Harrison, Jefferson, Mahoning, Monroe, and Trumbull Counties.

- West Virginia: Barbour, Braxton, Brooke, Calhoun, Doddridge, Gilmer, Hancock, Harrison, Ohio, Pleasants, Preston, Randolph, Ritchie, Tucker, Tyler, Upshur, Webster, and Wentzel Counties.

Number of Grants:

There will be a maximum of three awards.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Each award consists of a plaque and $1,000.

Term of Contract:

Awards will be presented for the 2018-2019 school year.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The program is open to any teacher (Grades K-8) within Allegheny and surrounding county schools of the SSP membership area. (For a list of counties that fall within the SSP Membership Area, see Grant Coverage Areas below.)

Pre-Application Information:

Mail completed form, along with two letters of recommendation, to the SSP office by the deadline (March 1, 2019).

Each nominator (principal or other school administrator) is allowed to nominate two worthy teachers from their school. Please use a separate form for each nomination. After providing the requested information, the nominator should give the nomination form to the teacher nominee for completion. The nominee should then mail the completed form to Diane Miller, Chair, no later than March 1, 2019 .
