Opportunity for a USA nonprofit organization to compete for a marketing makeover. The program is intended to give one underfunded nonprofit a new brand identity, as well as an innovative strategy, message, website, and marketing materials. The goal of the program is to empower nonprofits to raise awareness and attract new funding that would otherwise be out of reach.

Through Give a Brand! ® , Thinkso awards a free rebrand—valued at more than $50,000—to one small, underfunded U.S. nonprofit or charity. The award will be in the form of in-kind services written, designed, and produced by Thinkso. The recipient will receive a comprehensive rebrand—including a new brand identity, website, and suite of printed and digital marketing materials. The program’s other sponsors provide free web programming, printing, paper, photography, and more, turning Thinkso’s creative work into ready-to-use materials for the selected nonprofit.

Thinkso, a socially-minded creative agency in New York City, started Give a Brand! in 2012 because it recognized a real need: Small-but-mighty nonprofit organizations do life-changing work, often on shoestring budgets. When they raise funds, most of it goes directly into the communities they serve. Thinkso knows these organizations can accomplish even more when they’re armed with strong branding and compelling communications. That’s why, every year, Thinkso helps a nonprofit to raise awareness and new funding by raising its profile.

For everyone involved, Give a Brand! is seriously rewarding, not to mention super fun. The project includes livestreams of the creative process on social media, a day of collaboration on the rebrand at Thinkso’s office with a final "reveal," and a cocktail party to celebrate the newly elevated brand identity.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible, an organization must:

- Be a registered 501(c)(3) “nonprofit” with the US Internal Revenue Service.
- Have been in operation for a minimum of two years.
- Demonstrate a commitment to your mission with the intention of longevity and impact.
- Be truly “in need,” as determined by Thinkso. This means you have no substantial funding or donor base and/or the vast majority of your resources go to realizing your mission or to the recipients of their services —not to cover administrative costs.
- Grant Thinkso complete design freedom over logo, website, and other collateral. (You will have the opportunity to voice your needs and ideas prior to writing and design, and our work is very collaborative. But because of the nature and scale of this initiative, you will need to trust that Thinkso will deliver to your needs. Look at the work they've done for past Give a Brand! recipients to get a sense of our track record:
- Commit to using and upholding the branding and materials you receive from Thinkso for a minimum of three years.
- Be present and participate in the full-day “brand raising” event as well as preparatory and follow up phone or video calls.

Pre-Application Information:

Here's how it works:

1. Call for Entries: January 4 – April 9, 2021
Charities and nonprofits that qualify submit applications by filling out this form.

2. Finalist Presentations: May 1 - June 11, 2021
Thinkso selects a group of finalists from the application pool. These organizations will be asked to make a presentation to Thinkso so that the agency can get to know each of them, understand why they need a new brand identity/website, and determine who is the best fit for Thinkso’s resources this year. (Thinkso will provide finalists with more details in advance of the presentation so that they can properly prepare.)

3. Give a Brand! Recipient Announced: June 23, 2021
Thinkso announces the organization that will receive the free brand makeover—a new brand identity, messaging strategy, website (designed, written, and programmed), and marketing collateral.

4. The “Brand Raising” Day: August 6, 2021
After a month of foundational work, the entire Thinkso team will devote a full day to developing new branding and marketing communications for the Give a Brand! recipient. Our goal is to conceptualize, execute, and deliver materials that will give the nonprofit more strength to achieve its mission.

In the days and weeks following the full-day event, we’ll add some finishing touches, and our sponsors will print and fabricate some of the materials and program the website, with the goal of delivering everything before year’s end.
