Grants to Ohio nonprofit organizations in eligible areas to respond to the needs of local communities that have been disproportionately impacted by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) health crisis. Funding is intended to address the social and economic effects of the pandemic. Eligible organizations serve the residents of Mahoning Valley. Grants can cover organizations’ programmatic, general operating, or capital needs.

Submitted proposals should directly address the most urgent, immediate needs (including but not limited to food security, stable housing, emergency financial assistance) of residents disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 (low income, people of color, etc.) and/or of youth.

In addition, priority will be given to organizations that:

  • Have implemented cost-savings measures to adjust to current circumstances (budget cuts, submitted applications for other assistance) and/or can demonstrate a significant need for increased capacity to address the needs of Mahoning Valley residents
  • Demonstrate engagement of and connection to the communities they serve as evidenced by one or more of the following:
    • Leadership representative of those they serve
    • History of service and data reflecting demographic reached
    • Clear engagement of the community to identify needs/gaps and create solutions
  • Specifically address and work to eliminate racial and economic inequities for the residents they serve.
