Award valued at up to $3,500 to a USA high school teacher to acknowledge his or her outstanding contributions to making biotechnology education accessible in a classroom setting. The award consists a $2,500 certificate for Bio-Rad products and up to $1,000 in expenses to attend the NSTA National Conference on Science Education.

The awardee will be honored at the Teacher Awards Banquet; the awardee and one teacher guest of the awardee will be invited to dinner with members of the Bio-Rad Explorer team.

Bio-Rad’s Mini-Grant:
Applicants are also encouraged to apply for Bio-Rad’s Mini-Grant. This grant awards up to $2,000 in Bio-Rad materials.

This award has been established in memory of Ron Mardigian, the inspiration behind and founder of the Bio-Rad Explorer program.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Teachers of science in grades 9-12, with at least two years of experience integrating biotechnology into their lessons, that are legal residents of the fifty United States and the District of Columbia (excluding Puerto Rico).
